"Preventing Weight Gain in African American Reproductive Aged Women: Pilot Program"

Avoidance of progestin-only contraception (POC) methods due to fears of weight gain, and discontinuation of these methods for less effective forms of contraception, increase the risk of unintended pregnancy. This proposed study seeks to gather formative data and use those data to develop and evaluate an innovative, evidence-based, social media-delivered, peer coach-led intervention designed to prevent weight gain and improve metabolic and behavioral outcomes among reproductive-aged African American women at risk for diabetes due to obesity.
