Call for Papers: Diabetic Complications in Cardiovascular Health

The editorial team of the American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology invites submission of Research Articles, Short Reports, Methods and Resources, Perspectives, and Reviews related to diabetic complications in cardiovascular health. This Call for Papers is spearheaded by Editor-in-Chief Dr. Merry Lindsey, Associate Editor Dr. Jonathan Kirk, and Guest Editors Dr. Dinender Singla, Dr. Paras Mishra, Dr. Ya-Jing Wang, Dr. Jaume Padilla, and Dr. Rachel Climie.

The intent of this special Call for Papers is to highlight research focusing on causes, complications, or interactions of type I or type II diabetes mellitus on any aspect of cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology. These studies can include molecular, organ-based, in vivo, clinical, or modeling studies.The Editors are particularly interested in, and not limited to, submissions focused on:

  • Cellular and molecular signaling in the heart and vasculature in the setting of diabetes;
  • Role of metabolism in cause-and-effect mechanisms of cardiovascular complications of diabetes;
  • Sex similarities and differences in the cardiovascular response to diabetes;
  • Clinical advances to improve cardiovascular outcomes in patients with diabetes, including use of imaging; and
  • Novel models, tools, and resources.
