Applications Open: 2024 Systems Science for Social Impact – Summer Training Institute

Applications are open for the 5th annual Systems Science for Social Impact (SSSI) Summer Training Institute, to be held from August 12 – 16, 2024 at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis.

In this five-day training, participants will get a hands-on introduction to systems science methods with a focus on five main tracks: Intro to Systems, Agent-based ModelingGroup Model BuildingSocial Network Analysis, and System Dynamics.  

For those who are new to the Institute or systems science, consider the Intro to Systems track which is ideal for participants who want to learn more about the foundations of systems thinking and systems science methods.  

The Institute co-organizers and faculty are Ross Hammond, Douglas Luke, Ellis Ballard, Kristen Hassmiller Lich, Matt Kasman, Sara Malone, Virginia McKay, Alexandra Morshed, Nasim Sabounchi, and Kelsey Werner. 

Participants will review the major concepts of their chosen track/method, learn analytic best practices, and apply the methods to real-world data. The workshops are designed for faculty, advanced graduate students, recent graduates, and professionals from public health, social work, and social sciences. 

The application process is open; candidates will be accepted on a monthly basis through July 2024.
