Sarah Moreland-Russell, PhD: Examine the Translation of Nutrition & Physical Activity Guidelines in Missouri Childcare (May 2012-April 2014).
Dr. Moreland-Russell’s pilot was a first step toward determining factors that affect the translation of interventions recommended by the Institute of Medicine among Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) providers. It also aimed to help develop an effective dissemination and implementation plan to prepare CACFP providers in rural and under resourced communities to adhere to the changes in imminent nutrition and physical activity standards before federal and state mandates.
This project informed Dr. Moreland-Russell’s award for an NHLBI R01 on Examining the system-wide implementation of new flexibilities to the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs (R01HL178372, February 2025-November 2028, $674K FY25 Total Cost). Dr. Moreland-Russell has been promoted to Associate Professor since receiving her pilot award.
